Heather has 3 decades of expertise helping 1000’s of people to manage work after injury and illness. Having started in occupational health in manufacturing and heavy engineering, Heather has worked with a wide variety of businesses from slate mines to supermarkets, chocolate makers to high paced warehouses. In addition to being part of HR and H&S departments, she has worked with personal injury cases, workplace accident claims and group income protection services.
During her career she has designed and led award winning return to work services including 3 national awards for the impact on sickness absence, including demonstrating a return on investment of £5 for every £1 spent, saving the employer over £244,000.00
Sickness absence is a multifactoral problem (biological, psychological and social in it’s causes and impact) at the dark end of the employee wellbeing continuum. Costs escalate rapidly and the best laid plans unravel when key staff are out of action.
